Belize is a nation on the eastern coast of Central America, with Caribbean Sea shorelines to the east and dense jungle to the west.
Offshore, the massive Belize Barrier Reef, dotted with hundreds of low-lying islands called cayes, hosts rich marine life. It shares a border on the north with the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, on the west a non-determined line which is called (buffer zone) with the Guatemalan department of Peten, and on the south with the Guatemalan department of Izabal Belize and Guatemala have no definite borders due to the conflict that includes over 100 isles in the Caribbean sea.
Belize itself is divided into six districts.
